    Maharashtra National Law University, Aurangabad, organized its 13th Juridical Lecture on 11th August 2018. The lecture was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur on the theme of ‘Family Law’.

    Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar has served as the Vice-Chancellor of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam and the Registrar of NALSAR, University of Law, Hyderabad. Prof. Kumar has numerous research articles and books to his credit. For many years now, he has been a member of NALSAR Academic Council, Executive Council, and General Council.

    He began the lecture by taking the inputs of the students about the Family Law. He then explained family from the point of view of sociology and explained that to understand family, it needs to be understood through person (human being), status and rights.

    Dr. Vijender Kumar further explained the concepts of marriage, debt, moksha and gotra in Hindu Law. He then discussed the important provisions of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
