Suresh Chandra appointed as new Law Secretary

An Additional Secretary rank Officer Suresh Chandra is appointed as the new Union Law Secretary. He was appointed by the recommendation of an appointments Committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Hindustan Times, this was the first time in recent decades that the government decided to look outside the legal service for a candidate for the top post in the ministry.There were 45 Applicants for the top job.
