    A Delhi Magistrarte is hearing the Delhi police plea for remand of Mohammed Zubair, co-founder of fact checking website AltNews, who was arrested yesterday in a case over a tweet made in 2018 for allegedly hurting of religious sentiments.

    Zubair is produced before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Snigdha Sarvaria of the Patiala House Court.

    Senior Advocate Vrinda Grover is appearing for Zubair.

      Grover: At around 5 PM questioning began. I answered. Formality was performed, notice was given, I was asked to sign. Then later I was arrested. There was a haste, I don't understand why.

      Grover : He was granted protection by Delhi High court in 2019. In that case, status report of Delhi police says that in investigation, his tweet isn't offensive. That is FIR 194/2020. The notice served on me to come yesterday was in that case. I joined investigation.
