The Bar Council Of Delhi (BCD) has announced that it shall transfer Rs. 5000 to Advocates in need of Financial Assistance during the lockdown period. 

The decision was made wherein Applications were invited through email upto April 2, 2020 from those advocates in need of financial assistance in light of the loss of income owing to the nationwide lockdown.

The money is being disbursed to each Advocate in terms of a unanimous decision wherein a total amount of Rs. 2,31,95,000/- (Rupees Two Crore Thirty One Lacs and Ninety Five Thousand) had been collected.


"During total lock down, when everyone is confined to houses facing present crisis, BCD by way of this initiative first of its kind, out of applications received, on scrutiny found 4639 in order. As per the unanimous decision to pay Rs. 5000/- to each advocate, a total amount of Rs. 2,31,95,000/- (Rupees Two Crore Thirty One Lacs and Ninety Five Thousand) is being disbursed to the advocates by transferring to their respective bank accounts through NEFT. Necessary documentation and instructions have been issued to HDFC Bank in this behalf."

Mr. K.C. Mittal, Chairman of BCD also informed that he had given a cheque of Rs. 50,000 to BCD for welfare and requested all Senior Advocates and other Senior Colleagues to generously contribute for the welfare of the Advocates.

"We humbly request all BCD members, Senior Advocates and other Senior Colleagues at the Bar to generously contribute for the welfare of the Advocates. We make a special mention of Mr. Amarjit Singh Chandiok and Mr. N. Hariharan, Senior Advocates, for their contribution of Rs. 5 lacs each." - the message which has been circulated states.

Further to this, it also requests all BCD members in order to join the endevour and defeat COVI19.
