    New chief justices have been appointed in the High Courts of Gujarat, Kerala, Telangana, and Odisha.

    The President of India has, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, appointed the following judges as the Chief Justices of their respective High Courts–

    1. Justice Alok Aradhe has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court

    Justice Aradhe was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh on 29 December 2009 and is now a senior puisne Judge in his parent High Court. He has been functioning, on transfer since November 2018 as a Judge of the Karnataka High Court and has acquired experience of more than 13 years in dispensing justice in two large High Courts.

    2. Justice Subhasis Talapatra has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court

    Justice Talapatra was elevated as a Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 15 November 2011 and on establishment of a separate High Court for the State of Tripura in 2013, he opted the High Court of Tripura as his parent High Court. He has been functioning, on transfer, in the High Court of Orissa since 10 June 2022. Justice Talapatra will take charge as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court in on 07.08.2023 consequent upon superannuation of the present Chief Justice of the High Court.

    3. Justice Sunita Agarwal has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court

    Justice Agarwal graduated in Law from Awadh University and enrolled as an advocate on December 16, 1990. She was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad HC on November 21, 2011. She took oath as Permanent Judge on Aug 06, 2013.

    4. Justice Ashish Jitendra Desai has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court

    Justice Desai was born on 5th July, 1962 in Vadodara. His father (late) Justice Jitendra P Desai was a Judge of the High Court of Gujarat from 1983 to 1989. Justice Desai graduated in B.A ( Economics) from St. Xaviers' College, Ahmedabad, in the year 1982. He obtained Law Degree from Sir L.A. Shah Law College, Ahmedabad, in the year 1985 and was enrolled as an Advocate with Bar Council of Gujarat on 27.11.1985.

    He joined the Office of Advocate M. C. Bhatt and Daksha M. Bhatt, he started practice initially at the City Civil & Sessions Court, Ahmedabad, and from 1991, at the High Court of Gujarat. He was appointed as Assistant Government Pleader in the year 1994 and as Additional Public Prosecutor in the year 1995 and continued to work till his elevation.

    He was appointed as Central Government Standing Counsel between 2006 to 2009 and he was on the panel of the Gujarat Electricity Board as well as on the panel of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited.

    He appeared in a large number of cases in various branches of law including matters of constitutional importance and involving great public interest. He appeared in a large number of all types of civil and criminal cases. He was elevated as an Additional Judge, High Court of Gujarat on 21st November 2011, and was confirmed as a permanent Judge on 06.09.2013.

    It is also to be noted that Justice P Sam Koshy has been transferred as a judge of the Telangana High Court. Justice Koshy was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court on September 16, 2013. He is presently the fourth senior-most Judge of the said High Court.
