At the event, Professor David Wilkins of Harvard Law School will also be having a conversation with Chief Justice DY Chandrachud.

The said Award is the Center’s highest professional honor. Each year the Center brings together leading academics, legal practitioners, and thought leaders to honor and recognize individuals whose achievements have been impactful to the legal profession.

In bestowing the 2022 Award, Professor Wilkins, CLP faculty director, remarked: “I know how much India, and indeed the world, need Justice Chandrachud’s leadership, particularly on issues such as the mental health and the well-being of lawyers which he spoke about so eloquently at our conference in 2017 – long before the global pandemic placed this issue in the forefront of the profession’s consciousness.”

The past recipients include Ambassador Samantha Power, Former US Permanent Representative to the United Nations and current Director of the Agency for International Development, Brad Smith, Vice Chair of Microsoft, and Kenneth Frazier, former Chair and CEO of Merck.

Chief Justice Chadrachud, who took oath as Chief Justice in November 2022, holds an LLM and an SJD from Harvard Law School.
