    The Supreme Court on Friday allowed the applications filed by the States of Maharashtra, Meghalaya and Odisha seeking extension of time to publish the results of state board exams for Class 12.

    In June, the Supreme Court had directed state boards to publish the Class 12 exams results within July 31 as per the alternate assessment schemes adopted by them in lieu of the written examinations cancelled due to COVID.

    The State of Maharashtra filed the application for extension of 7 days beyond July 31st for declaration of results. The Board however declared its results on August 3. The State of Odisha sought an extension of a period of at least two weeks beyond July 31 t to publish the results of students in the Arts and Vocational streams in the State.  The Meghalaya Board of School Education sought an extension of one week for declaration of result of 12th Board for students of Arts stream in Meghalaya.

    Today, a bench comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari allowed these extension applications, after noting that there was no objection to them.
