Criminal Law Bills To Replace IPC, CrPC & Evidence Act : Live Updates From Lok Sabha Discussion

Ravi Shankar Prasad: While the IPC focused on punishment, the proposed Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita focuses on nyaya, i.e., justice. CrPC prescribed a procedure to penalise accused, but Bharatiya Nagararik Suraksha Sanhita proposes to safeguard the rights of the accused.

Prasad says the Bharatiya Suraksha Sanhita has provision allowing in absentia trial against absconding accused. There are provisions allowing registration of 'Zero FIR'.
