    The Karnataka High Court will today continue hearing the petitions challenging Hijab Ban in colleges. Justice Krishna Dixit will continue hearing the matter at 2.30 PM today.

    Yesterday, Senior Advocate Devadatt Kamat had completed arguments for the petitioners (report may be read here). Today, Advocate General is expected to respond.

    Justice Krishna S. Dixit had, at the end of yesterdays hearing, requested the student community and the public at large to refrain from taking onto the streets in connection with the issue.

      Poovayya : Today it is said state has made it worse, State has not made it worse. Even for the present academic year the decision of CDC of uniform policy is followed.

      Poovayya: I represent the CDC which runs the college. Prescription of uniform was there since one year. Nobody complained earlier now it is raised.

      Kamat: My interim prayer is that leave aside the challenge to the GO. Please permit me to go to the school wearing my clothes, don't leave it to the mercy of some principal or CDC.

      Kamat: State govt's stand has made it worse for itself. State says it has not prohibited anything. It is worse. If the state says it has not decided, then we are at the mercy of some committee.

      Hegde: There is nothing in Karnataka Education Act which deals with uniforms. I went up and down, I did not find anything.

      Hegde: AG says we have not prescribed/proscribed any uniform. The next question is supposing that GO is interpreted by CDC as not prescribing then the question does not arise. But if it is considered so by CDC then the question arises.
