    The Karnataka High Court will today continue hearing the petitions challenging Hijab Ban in colleges. Justice Krishna Dixit will continue hearing the matter at 2.30 PM today.

    Yesterday, Senior Advocate Devadatt Kamat had completed arguments for the petitioners (report may be read here). Today, Advocate General is expected to respond.

    Justice Krishna S. Dixit had, at the end of yesterdays hearing, requested the student community and the public at large to refrain from taking onto the streets in connection with the issue.

      Kamat: Let the matter be sent to larger bench, but let the student follow their faith and go back to school.

      AG: What we are concerned is about an early hearing of the matter. The issue reflects to law and order issue. Ultimately it is the prerogative of the court.

      Kamat : We have complete faith in lordships. Having regard to what has fallen from lordships and considering judicial sensibilities and as an officer of the Court, I do not oppose the request of the court.

      Justice Dixit : I urge that the matter be heard by a larger bench.

      Justice Dixit : If you see the pattern of judicial behaviour, in cases involving personal laws or seminal laws generally the benches so constituted that the outcomes is more acceptable. Don't be under the impression that for constitution of the bench will take its own time.
