Bench: In that view, we’re not inclined to go in detail, list after vacation. Meanwhile, he has ensured that he will communicate to the highest police officer in the state to take steps to protect evidence and other material. 

Bench: He has ensured that steps will be taken by the next date, to satisfy this court and alternatives will be considered to have an investigation by other agencies.

Bench: We’ve heard Sr Adv Salve, he explained the steps taken filed by State & status report was also filed. However, we are not satisfied by the steps taken by the state.

J Kohli: We respect media & their independence but this is not fair! 

Salve: All of us are at the receiving end of irresponsible tweets.

CJI: I’m not on the issue of tweets, they must have some sense, I’m in court, how can I go to Lucknow and meet them? Leave it there. 

Adv Agnish Aditya: There was a tweet by Times Now saying CJI visited the kin of the deceased in Lucknow.

CJI: We don’t want to say anything.

J Surya Kant: It's unfortunate to observe that the media is misrepresenting the facts. 

CJI: There is no question of continuing officers who are in the field. Because of their conduct, we don’t expect an investigation will take place. Please direct DGP to ensure that all evidence is kept safe. 

Salve: They must vindicate faith the court is taking.

J Kant: They have to take steps to instil confidence .

CJI: We have respect for you, we hope the state will take necessary steps; because of the sensitivity of the issue, we aren’t making any comments. CBI is also not the solution, for reasons you know. Better some other mode you find out, we’ll take up immediately after vacation.
