Q.6 What is meant by saying that “a person died intestate” ?

Ans. It means that the person died without having executed a Will. His properties will, therefore, be subject to the personal law of succession and inheritance.

Q.7 What is meant by “succession” ?

Ans. Succession means the transmission of the rights and obligations of a deceased person to his heirs under the law of inheritance or succession governing such persons. 

Q.8 What is meant by “testamentary succession” ?

Ans. Testamentary succession means the succession of a person’s property after his death in accordance with the prescriptions of a “Will and testament” executed by him.

Q.9 Which part of the Indian Succession Act, 1925 deals with testamentary succession ?

Ans. Part VI of the Indian Succession Act deals with testamentary succession.

Q.10 Which are the Sections covered by Part VI of the Indian Succession Act and there are how many Chapters in that Part ?

Ans. The Sections which are covered by Part VI are Sections 57 to 191. There are all together 23 Chapters as Chapter I to Chapter XXIII in Part VI of the Indian Succession Act.
