    The Supreme Court's proceedings before the bench of Chief Justice of India NV Ramana will be live-streamed today. This is a significant development, as it is the first time that live-streaming is happening in the Supreme Court since the 2018 verdict which granted approval for live-streaming of the proceedings of the Apex Court in principle.

    The proceedings before the ceremonial bench of the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana on his last working day as a Supreme Court judge will be live-streamed in this link.

    As per custom, the outgoing Chief Justice of India shares bench with the next Chief Justice of India on the last working day. The members of the bar express their farewell on the last working day before the ceremonial bench.

    Today, CJI Ramana will share the bench with CJI-designate Justice UU Lalit and Justice Hima Kohli.

    A notice issued by the Supreme Court's computer cell stated as follows :

    Please take notice that on the eve of laying down the office of the Hon'ble Chief Justice of India, the proceedings of the Hon'ble Chief Justice' Court i.e., Ceremonial Bench on August 26, 2022, 10:30 A.M. onwards shall be livestreamed through the NIC' Webcast portal –

    It was on September 26, 2018, that a 3-judge bench of the Supreme Court allowed live-streaming of the hearings in the top court, except in sensitive matters involving sexual offences and matrimonial disputes. However, live-streaming has not been adopted in practice in the Supreme Court.

    Several High Courts of the country, such as Karnataka, Gujarat, Odisha are live-streaming the hearings in their respective official YouTube pages.
