Bhushan: Apart from 47 lakh people deleted in draft roll, they say they have given notices to 33 lakh more people on 2 grounds - logical discrepancies and 'unmapped'...they have not disclosed on website the names of the people to whom notices are being issued. Supreme Court to hear today a batch of petitions concerning investigation and trial of sexual violence cases that occurred during the #ManipurCrisis
Bench: CJI Surya Kant, J Joymalya Bagchi and J V Mohana
Earlier, the Court had transferred the trials from Manipur to Assam under the jurisdiction of the Gauhati HC. It further requested the Chief Justice Gauhati HC to consider setting up exclusive courts to deal with cases being investigated by CBI and NIA
The Court also asked the High-Powered Committee constituted to oversee relief and rehabilitation measures in Manipur to examine complaints that several affected families were yet to receive the benefits of rehabilitation, including reconstruction of houses damaged during the ethnic violence.
