ASG: Speedy trial can't be stuck in a straight jacket formula. How can delay be attributed to me? I never said don't frame charges, or don't proceed because further investigation is pending. Rather, I filed an application for expediting trial.

ASG: Cognizance is prima facie case made out. Stage of charge is not being allowed to reach

ASG: Delay is totally attributable to the accused. When I was on the other side...

ASG: I can't say that. We used to have a joint meeting of large number of people who used to decide...

ASG: We have given relied upon documents. If irrelevant documents are asked for, that can't be a ground to say that we have delayed trial

ASG: This court has said that they are not entitled to unrelied documents at this stage...yet we allowed them inspection.

ASG: Documents are voluminous, yes. But whether they contributed to delay is the question

ASG: They could have said we are applying for unrelied upon documents because that can be done only after charges are framed kindly frame charges

J Viswanathan: How many pages are there? of which inspection is sought? and what is the time for inspection?

ASG: Morning 10-6. They could have engaged more people to inspect

ASG: There is categorical finding that their right would accrue after framing of charge. They took 3 months for inspection!
