    A 5-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court is hearing the Narada case related to the bail of four Trinamool Congress leaders- Firhad Hakim, Madan Mitra, Subrata Mukherjee and Sovan Chatterjee- who have been under judicial custody since May 17.

    A bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal, Justices IP Mukerji, Harish Tandon, Soumen Sen and Arijit Mukherjee is hearing the applications filed by the arrested leaders seeking recall of the May 17 order passed by the division bench, which had stayed the bail granted to them.

    Solicitor General Tushar Mehta is appearing for the CBI, and Senior Advocates Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Sidharth Luthra and Kalyan Bandopadhyay are appearing for the arrested leaders.

      Bandopadhyay in lighter vein : My problem is that I am fighting against a cannon.

      Solicitor General clarifies his earlier comment on '5 swords'. He says he meant the 5 lawyers in the case.

      Bandopadhyay : 5 swords against a cannon!.

      Kalyan Bandopadhyaya says he has raised preliminary objections on the maintainability of the CBI's petition.

      The bench says all issues will be kept open and the bench is considering only the issue of interim bail today.

      Luthra also suggests they can be asked to join investigation by VC. It will address the concerns of Solicitor General. Luthra also asks why the CBI would require their presence any further, as investigation is over.

      Justice Sen : Mr.Luthra, under the garb of giving press interviews on other subjects, there should not be any statement or comment on the pending trial in this case.

      Luthra : The investigation against them is over. Their voice samples were collected in 2019 and the results are not yet out.

      DR Singhvi says he does not object to the condition that accused should not speak to press about the case

      Singhvi : As regards the condition of mob gathering, if this court orders that, it will be presumed that they had gathered mob. It is like asking have you stopped beating your wife. These kind of submissions are made only for the press.

      Solicitor General : Second condition. That the accused may not give press interviews, media statements etc on the subject matter of the case and that if they are required to attend court or investigation, they may not gather crowd or a mob.
