The Supreme Court on Friday refused to hear pleas seeking urgent hearing of issues arising out of the NEET re-test scheduled for June 21, observing that all matters concerning the examination are already listed before a Bench headed by Justice PS Narasimha.

The matter was mentioned before Chief Justice of India Surya Kant by counsel appearing for NEET candidates.

When a plea relating to the NEET re-examination was mentioned for urgent listing, the CJI said:

"All NEET matters will go before the Bench of Justice PS Narasimha. No urgency."

Subsequently, another counsel mentioned a plea concerning around 1,600 NEET candidates and submitted that the students were under "tremendous pressure and anxiety" due to rumours circulating on social media and developments in related proceedings before the Delhi High Court.

    The counsel submitted:

"This matter pertains to 1600 NEET candidates. They are under tremendous pressure and anxiety on account of all the rumours that are out there including yesterday's proceedings before Delhi High Court which has categorically admitted and acknowledged that paper leaks and these events are there on the social media."

The counsel further raised concerns regarding admit cards for the June 21 re-test, stating that some candidates were unable to download them while others were receiving admit cards indicating different examination centres.

"That apart, the concern is that they are not able to download the admit cards as well. The cards which are being downloaded point out different centres and all that. The students hardly have the time," the counsel submitted.

However, the Chief Justice declined to entertain the request, stating:

    "We will not entertain."

When the counsel requested that the matter at least be tagged with the pending NEET cases so that the students' apprehensions could be addressed, the CJI reiterated that all such matters would be considered by the Bench already seized of the issue.

"We know that even the judicial platforms are also being unfortunately... All these matters are before Justice Narasimha's Bench. When the court will open and the Bench is sitting, all matters will be there," the Chief Justice observed.

The Court thus declined to grant any urgent relief or separate listing, leaving the issues to be considered along with the pending NEET matters before the Justice PS Narasimha-led Bench.
