    This course extends over four Units and covers different regulatory aspects controlling Indian Competition regime. This course is intended to cover all the major aspects of Anti-competitive practices and their prevention in different kinds of commercial dealings. The course has been designed in such a manner which provides the student a step by step guide to deal with different Competition related issues in India. Special care has been taken to make the course Units more compatible even for the students having non-legal background.

    UNIT - I - INTRODUCTION TO COMPETITION LAW

    • Introduction (Evolution and Objectives of the Competition Law and Competition Policy in India)
    • Important Definitions (Competition Agreement, Enterprise and Cartel, Consumer Relevant Market)

    UNIT – II - ANTI-COMPETITIVE AGREEMENTS

    • Horizontal Anti-competitive Agreements
    • Vertical Anti-competitive Agreements (tie-in arrangement, exclusive supply agreement, exclusive distribution agreement, refusal to deal, and resale price maintenance)
    • Intellectual Property Rights and Competition concerns - Other Exemptions

    UNIT – III- PREVENTION OF ABUSE OF DOMINANT POSITION

    • Dominant Position in Market
    • Abuse of Dominant Position
    • After Market and Predatory Pricing
    • Prevention of Abuse of Dominance - Penalties and Leniency

    UNIT – IV- REGULATION OF COMBINATION

    • Combinations (Merger, Acquisition, Amalgamation and Takeover)
    • Horizontal, Vertical and Conglomerate Mergers
    • Threshold limit on combinations - Appreciable adverse effect on Competition or its likelihood

    Teaching-Learning Methodology and Mode of Delivery

    Teaching Learning Methodology includes Online Lectures via Zoom and Live Chats and discussions, Case analysis, Presentations and Sessions by subject experts from Academia and Industry to foster necessary capabilities in candidates to handle practical concerns in the law relating to Competition laws.
