Lawyers have filed writ petitions in the Supreme Court over the mob-gathering which took place on the Supreme Court premises yesterday night after Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi and other INDIA bloc leaders marched to the SC Registry to file their petition against the Election Commission of India and the SIR.
Senior Advocates Gaurav Bhatia and Mahesh Jethmalani mentioned the matters before the Chief Justice of India for urgent listing. CJI Surya Kant agreed to list the matter on Thursday.
Yesterday afternoon, Rahul Gandhi and the opposition leaders led a march to the Supreme Court signalling their protest against the ECI over the SIR process. They also filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the ECI decisions.
Last night at around 7 PM, the leaders and their followers entered the Supreme Court premises. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi, Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav etc, were present, along with their followers. This lead to the gathering of a huge crowd within the SC precincts, creating a ruckus.
Scenes live from the #SupremeCourt premises as senior leaders from different national parties have entered from Gate B. It may be noted that LoP @RahulGandhi has already filed a writ petition challenging SIR in electoral rolls. @INCIndia @samajwadiparty @RahulGandhi @kharge @priyankagandhi @yadavakhilesh
