CJI to Hooda : Can we look at the report of the IIT Madras?

SG : He(IIT Chairman) had deputed Prof. Gopalakrishnan to attend the meetings( of NTA).

CJI : So this time IIT Madras Director was ex-officio member of NTA governing body.

SG : He had deputed somebody else to attend the meetings.

CJI : When you say that IIT Chairman is ex-officio member of the governing body of NTA..

NTA counsel : Governing body has no role in the conduct of the exam..

CJI : IIT JEE Advanced is conducted by whom?

SG : IITs. This year it was IIT Madras.

CJI : So this year, for JEE Advanced, the organiser was IIT Madras?

SG : Correct.

SG : JEE 24 was conducted by IIT Madras. Chairman of IIT who conducts JEE is ex-officio member of NTA.

CJI : What role does NTA have in regard to JEE?

SG : JEE Mains is conducted by NTA.

SG : Subject to further verification, whichever IIT is organising the JEE, that Chairman of that IIT is ex-officio member of NTA. But the Director who prepared this report is not a member.

CJI : JEE 2024 was by IIT Madras?

Hooda : There is a conflict of interest since IIT Madras Director is member of the governing body of NTA.

SG : That is factually wrong. Somebody else was. 

Hooda : IIT Madras report cannot be relied upon.

CJI : According to you it has to be done on the restrictive figure of 1 lakh eight thousand.
