Chief Justice DY Chandrachud on Thursday, while hearing mentionings, stated that it was not necessary for members of the bar to mention a matter unless it was urgent. He stated that matters would automatically come up and that the registry had no discretion over the same. He said–

"Actually, I request all the members of the bar, that you need not mention. As I already said ,the matters filed on Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday come on the next Monday automatically, without mentioning. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday matters come automatically on the next Friday. Now the registry will have no discretion on it. Anything which is more urgent is mentioned, otherwise this is now the pattern which I have set up."

Soon after assuming the office of the Chief Justice of India, CJI Chandrachud had announced in November last year that he has implemented a system for automatic listing of newly filed cases.

"I am also keeping a close tab on how many matters are being verified by the team in the Registry on the removal of defects", CJI had said.
