The bench adjourns hearing to tomorrow.

1. VTU has been asked to respond on why online exams cannot be held when viva was done online.

2. Govt asked to clarify about quarantine relaxations for students.

HC to Govt Advocate: Students from outside the state will be coming. You find out the state's response on the communication made by the University seeking relaxation of quarantine regulations for students.  

HC asks University,  "do you have any instructions on the State Government relaxing quarantine regulations for students?". 

Adv Bhat the University should give at least a provisional degree if the University is not able to conduct the exams within reasonable period of time?

HC says without exams no provisional degree

HC: After 15/09, there is reasonable period of gap. What is the reasonable period for second chance exams?.

Whether online can be allowed. This you have to respond, you take instruction, counsel for University. 

HC : University, you will have to respond, place it in witting why exams cannot be done online when VIVA is being done online.

University counsel says, I will take instruction. It may be posted tomorrow. 

HC says, now we can ask the University to explore the possibility and time period in which the exams can be conducted.  

Bhat adds that viva is being conducted online. 

HC says the only point is even if the technical point is taken care of they will have to design the process for conducting online exams.

Adv Bhat argues Christ College has done it online, NLSIU has done it online. "Unprecedented situation needs creative solutions", he says.
