"Will Organize Revenge Killing Of Victim, Family And Eyewitnesses If Granted Bail To Asaram Bapu": Victim's Father Moves Supreme Court

Opposing the bail plea filed by filed by self-styled godman and life convict Asaram Bapu, the father of the rape victim has moved the Supreme Court stating that he will organize revenge killing of the victim, her family and the eyewitnesses if granted bail.The plea, moved by father of the child rape victim who was 16 years of age at the time of incident, through Advocate Utsav Bains, avers that Asaram Bapu is a habitual offender who is currently facing trial for similar offences of rape. Calling Asaram Bapu a "highly influential and politically connected person", the plea states that he "has a force of Millions of blind followers around the country and also a hired killer Kartik Haldar who killed and attacked eyewitnesses confessed to the Police that Petitioner ordered the killings."Furthermore, it has been stated thus:"During the course of the trial, the Applicant and his family members were threatened with dire consequences. Recently also, the Applicant herein has been threatened by the followers/henchmen of the petitioner and shockingly the State of Uttar Pradesh has reduced security of the Applicant and his family and they are again very vulnerable to murderous attacks by the followers/henchmen of the petitioner."Highlighting that there is an apprehension that his daughter and family could be killed in a honor killing by the followers or henchmen of the powerful godman, the plea states thus:"State Sponsored Impunity of the Petitioner is so grave and naked that in spite of a hired killer Kartik Haldar confessing to the Police that he shot dead Key Eyewitness Akhil Gupta on the orders of the Petitioner, the Uttar Pradesh Police is yet to Question the Petitioner, Interrogate or Arrest him or even make him an accused after registering an FIR against him because of his powerful connected with top politicians."The plea also states that the submission made on behalf of the petitioner to seek ayurvedic treatment at Prakash Deep Institute of Ayurveda at Uttarakhand "is nothing but again an attempt to seek suspension of his sentence and change the place of his custody."Recently, the State of Rajasthan had opposed the bail plea, and had stated in its Reply that Asaram Bapu had a ulterior motive and wished to change his place of custody under the guise of seeking medical treatment.About Asaram's PleaAn application for temporary suspension of sentences had been moved by life convict Asaram (in a sexual assault case), aged about 83 years, who is also facing trial in another case at Gujarat involving the offence under Section 376 IPC and is presently in custody in connection with the said case as well.He got infected by COVID-19 Virus while suffering Life Imprisonment at the Central Jail, Jodhpur, and as a measure to provide treatment, he was shifted to the M.D.M. Hospital, Jodhpur, and was later on shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur.In the intervening period, as per his medical reports, he developed internal gastrointestinal bleeding as a result whereof, his hemoglobin dropped to a critically low level, and accordingly, he was provided treatment for the said disorder including blood transfusion, etc.
