Adish C Aggarwala – former vice president of the Supreme Court Bar Association and senior advocate – has been elected to the executive committee of the SCBA as its president. The senior counsel has beaten three advocates and four senior advocates to clinch a victory. His closest contender was Senior Advocate Dushyant Dave, who held the position of president till his resignation in 2021. While Aggarwala received 668 votes, Dave received 477. Senior advocates Rajesh Kumar Khanna (426), Ranjit Kumar (304), and Ajit Kumar Sinha (144) were the three next-best contenders.
Aggarwala's second-in-command is Senior Advocate Sukumar Pattjoshi, who has been elected the vice president of the bar association. Pattjoshi - with a total of 726 votes - has defeated nine other candidates including senior advocates Rachana Srivastava (433), Vibha Datta Makhija (302), and Pavani Mahalakshmi (228). Advocates Rohit Pandey and Meenesh Kumar Dubey have raced ahead of the other candidates to win the post of secretary, while advocates Yugandhara Pawar Jha and Amrendra Kumar Singh have become the treasurer and joint treasurer.
Counting is still underway to determine who has been elected to the remaining posts. The election result with respect to the other posts in the executive committee will be declared today.
Voting for the executive committee posts concluded on Wednesday, under the supervision of an election committee headed by Senior Advocate V Giri.
