On Monday, the Supreme Court dismissed as withdrawn a plea moved by Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain seeking expeditious hearing of his bail application in a money-laundering case.

Satyendar Jain was arrested on May 31 in cases pertaining to black money, benami properties, ghost companies, money laundering and disproportionate assets. He is currently in judicial custody.
Before a Bench of Justices MR Shah and Ravindra Bhat, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta had argued that the petitioner cannot have special treatment everywhere.
The Bench then refused to entertain the plea noting that the bail application is pending before the Delhi High Court and has been kept for hearing on December 20.
Eventually, the petitioner's counsel Senior Advocate Rahul Mehra chose to withdraw the matter.
Before parting with the matter, the counsel for the petitioner said,
"Very unfortunate stand being taken by the State, Milords. Every single bail should be expedited. To say that other people get it after four weeks is not an excuse on the other side. It's the personal liberty of an individual"
