The Supreme Court has notified that more than 7,300 cases will be taken up during the 2026 “Partial Court Working Days,” with fresh matters, including bail cases, to continue being listed during the vacation period itself.

As per a notice issued by the Supreme Court Registry on May 21, the Court said 13,565 miscellaneous matters and 10,567 regular hearing matters, including connected cases, had initially been notified for listing during the partial court working days.

Of these, around 3,102 miscellaneous matters and 4,232 regular hearing matters, where either no advocates or less than 50% of advocates declined listing, have been considered for hearing during the period, subject to availability of slots.

The notice states that miscellaneous matters, including fresh, after-notice and adjourned matters, will be listed every Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Regular hearing matters, along with urgent miscellaneous matters, will be listed every Wednesday and Thursday.

Importantly, the Court clarified that all fresh matters, including bail matters, that are filed, re-filed and verified during the partial court working days will be listed during the same period in accordance with the auto-listing schedule. In cases involving extreme urgency, advocates and parties may mention matters before the Mentioning Branch in terms of the Court's earlier circular.

The Supreme Court has also retained the hybrid hearing option, allowing members of the Bar and parties-in-person to appear through video conferencing. The notice specifies that advocates appearing virtually must wear black coat and band or black tie.

Further, Advocate-on-Record or parties-in-person unable to appear for genuine reasons in listed matters have been permitted to circulate adjournment letters in accordance with existing guidelines.

The notice has annexed the list of cases which have been notified for listing during the Partial Court Working Days from June 1 till July 10.
