Sibal: My personal opinion is that if you want to be in practice, you should practice. If you want to be in parliament, you should be in parliament. You can only perform one function.

Sibal: Every week, a meeting takes place on what is the business to take place. 

Sibal: It is the political party which appoints the chief whip, not the legislative party.

Sibal: To vote against the party- that is disloyalty. To join another party - that smacks of conspiracy. That is exactly what has happened here.

Sibal: The entire edifice of our parliamentary democracy is the party system. The legislative party is the species and the political party is the genus. Actions of legislative party cannot be outside the line of objects of political party.

Sibal: The same would have far reaching consequences and would destabilize the system of party governance.

Sibal: So the 38 members are the legislative party, they're not the political party. Then I come to Article 176.

Sibal: Political party relates back to the original party. It doesn't mean legislative party. The faction referred in para 3 shall be deemed to be understood as political party.

CJI: Mr Maninder Singh, you're not the only one feeling hot. We'll start the AC. Mr Singh, is it the heat of the weather or the heat of Mr Sibal's arguments (laughs).
