The Supreme Court recently set aside a judgment of the Himachal Pradesh High Court for being "utterly incomprehensible."

"The judgment of the High Court is utterly incomprehensible. The reasons on the basis of which the High Court has proceeded to allow the petitions and set aside the reassessment cannot be discerned from the judgments," a bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Sudhanshu Dhulia held.

Setting side the High Court judgment, the Supreme Court asked the HC to consider the matter afresh.

In 2017, the Supreme Court had set aside another judgment of the Himachal Pradesh High Court judgment because of the "convoluted English" used in it, which made the judgment incomprehensible.

"After hearing learned counsel, it is not possible to comprehend the contents of the impugned order passed by the High Court. The order passed by the High Court is, therefore, set aside and the matter is remanded to the High Court for fresh consideration on merits," a Bench comprising Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice Deepak Gupta had observed.
