  • West Bengal Urges Supreme Court Urgent Hearing on Suit Against Union Over CBIs Powers

    The Supreme Court will hear today the suo motu case taken over the gherao of judicial officers in Malda district in West Bengal last week, while they were engaged in the SIR adjudication duties.

    A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice Vipul Pancholi will hear the matter at 4 PM.

    The bench, last week, directed the virtual appearance of the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP, Malda District Collector and the SSP to explain their inaction in securing the security of the judicial officers.

    The bench also directed the Election Commission of India to requisition central forces to ensure the safety of judicial officers.

We request the Chief Justice of Calcutta HC to constitute a team of senior most judges to lay down the procedure to be followed by the appellate tribunals.
