CJI: What's wrong with that?

Singhvi: They are clerks, customer assistant...look at people I was giving.

Sr Adv DS Naidu (for ECI): No names given, at 12.30 this is what we received on Saturday

Diwan: We gave district-wise particulars

Naidu: Never made available

CJI: We don't want dispute on facts. Otherwise we will have to ask Chief Secretary

Diwan: Names are compiled and ready. They are all Group B

CJI: On 4 Feb or 5 Feb itself, names could have been sent.

CJI: Where's our order on this 'mapped' etc.

Diwan refers to the last order which issued crucial directions to ECI

Diwan: More than 50% of LD category discrepancies are due to minor spelling mismatches

CJI: 70 lakh people are there with spelling mismatches? Last time, it came up that ECI had to engage micro-observers due to shortage of manpower...

Diwan: We have arranged 8500 officers

CJI (to ECI): Have you received the list?

Sr Adv Menaka Guruswamy: An organization taking care of temples has filed one petition. What's their interest...

CJI: Let us hear one by one. If discipline is not maintained...you must know nature of the Chief Justice. Are you sitting in a market or court 1?

Diwan refers to his note: Process will end on 14 Feb, so there is tremendous urgency. On Feb 4, bench made certain observations. Draft roll published has 7.08 cr electors approx. Out of these, 6.75 cr approx. are mapped (each elector was mentioned in 2002 list or identifiable through some family member in that list). 32 lakhs were unmapped. I am focusing on mapped. 1.36 cr of WB electors were found through a process known as "logical discrepancy".
