    College of legal studies, UPES Dehradun is organizing 2nd Enervions International Essay Writing Competition-2017 in collaboration with Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai.

    Theme: Climate Change and Sustainable Development

    Topics  

    • The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Rounds on Climate Change “Backseat driving by MNCs or sovereign nations taking a resolve on a joint program? ”

    • The Fate of Kyoto protocol and the CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) measures

    • Livelihood Challenges of Farmers: An Analysis with Reference to Climate Change and Sustainable Development

    • Credible Alternatives to meet Energy Demands of Developing India: Issues and Challenges

    • Climate Change – the best way forward – regulatory or social approach? : Passing the baton from State to society


    Eligibility: The competition is open to students who are pursuing their B.A., LL.B. / LL.M. / Ph.D. / M. Phil or any other undergraduate or master course (other than Law) in any university across the world.
    Note- If any student of UPES is positioned amongst the top three, he/she will not be eligible for the top 3 prizes but will be felicitated in recognition of his/her performance with the special prize by the Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai.

    Submission Guidelines

    1. The participant should send three attachments in mail Essay in MS Word format with subject “Essay Competition: Enervions 2017”- Name of Author(s).

    2. Scanned copy of Registration form.

    3. Cover page containing name of participant, Nationality, address, e-mail-id, contact number, Course and class presently attending and name of college/University with address.

    4. Submission must be mailed at
      enervions@ddn.upes.ac.in

    5. The essay must be written in English.

    6. Only one submission is allowed per author. Co-authorship to a maximum of two authors is permitted.

    7. Only original essays will be considered for the competition.

    8. Scanned copy of completed Registration form is to be sent along with essay. The registration form must be signed along with seal by the head of institution / University (For registration form, see the last page).


    Formatting Guidelines

    1. Essays to be submitted in .doc/.docx format only.

    2. Font size shall be 12 points in Times New Roman, 1.5 interlinear space.

    3. A footer numbering pages as “page a of y” on the right side of each page.

    4. Essays (including footnotes) should be not more than 4000 words.


    Prizes

    • First prize: 25,000 rupees.

    • Second prize: 20,000 rupees.

    • Third prize: 10,000 rupees.

    • Consolation prizes: Rs.1000 each for 12 selected essays


    Last date for submission of essays: February 28, 2017.
