• Bombay High Court says it won't pass any orders asking the Elections Commission of India (ECI) not to delete names of voters in Maharashtra.

A division bench of Chief Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Advait Sethna says it will "follow the judicial propriety" as the Supreme Court had in November 2025 passed an order restraining High Courts from hearing petitions pertaining to the validity of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of their respective States or any other aspects related to the said process.

The judges were at the outset informed that the Supreme Court had in November 2025 passed the orders restraining High Courts.

Sr Adv Ashutosh Kumbhakoni for ECI informed the judges that several High Courts have refused to take up petitions challenging such aspects of SIR. Some High Courts, the Sr Adv said, have asked litigants to seek clarification from the SC of they could hear those cases or not.
