In a significant step toward strengthening judicial infrastructure in Chhattisgarh, the High Court of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday conducted the Virtual Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the construction of new Civil Court buildings at Kartala in Korba district and Pamgarh in Janjgir–Champa district. The ceremony was held on December 9, 2025, marking an important milestone in the judiciary's ongoing efforts to expand and modernize court facilities across the State.

The virtual foundation stone was laid by Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha, whose leadership, the Court noted, continues to guide the judicial system toward structural reforms and infrastructure enhancement. The event included a video presentation showcasing the project sites and outlining the vision and planning behind the upcoming court complexes.

In his keynote address, the Chief Justice expressed deep satisfaction at the commencement of these projects, observing that robust judicial infrastructure is essential for the dignity, well-being, and efficiency of court personnel. A well-supported workforce, he emphasized, forms the backbone of an effective justice delivery system.

Justice Sinha noted that infrastructural development—especially in remote and developing regions—not only improves workplace conditions but also strengthens institutional functioning at the grassroots level. A well-designed court environment, he said, benefits litigants, judicial officers, staff, and the wider legal community, ultimately contributing to better justice outcomes.

The Chief Justice also appreciated the effective coordination between the Judiciary and District Administration, reiterating the commitment of the High Court to ensuring that all court complexes in the State are equipped with essential and modern amenities. He urged for timely completion of the projects while maintaining high standards of quality and planning.

The programme was graced by the virtual presence of Justice Sanjay Agrawal, Judge of the High Court and Portfolio Judge for Korba and Janjgir–Champa districts. Other Judges of the High Court also attended the event online.

Senior judicial and administrative officers were present, including the Registrar General, Officers of the Registry, Principal District & Sessions Judges, Judicial Officers, District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, Bar Association members, and court personnel from the concerned districts.

The ceremony began with a welcome address by Shri Santosh Sharma, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Korba, who highlighted the significance of the new court infrastructure and expressed gratitude for the support extended by the dignitaries.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Shakti Singh Rajput, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Janjgir–Champa, who acknowledged the contributions of the Chief Justice, Judges, District Administration, and all teams involved in making the programme a success.

This initiative marks a meaningful stride in the Chhattisgarh Judiciary's commitment to strengthening institutional infrastructure and enhancing working conditions for judicial officers and staff. The projects represent an important investment in ensuring accessible, efficient, and modern justice delivery at the grassroots level.
