Justice Rohinton F. Nariman, Former Justice of the Supreme Court of India, will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award on the occasion of the 105th birth anniversary of the late legendary Nani Palkhivala. The event is scheduled to take place on 16th January 2025, from 4:15 PM onwards at the Krishna Menon Auditorium.
Justice Nariman, during his tenure as a Supreme Court judge (from July 7, 2014, to August 12, 2021), delivered around 500 reported judgments, including several landmark constitutional judgments.
On this occasion, the Nani Palkhivala National Law Club (NPNLC) will also confer two "Awards of Excellence" to:
1. Mr. Pawan Duggal, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, who has authored over 200 books on Cyber Laws and Cyber Crimes and is a leading expert in the field of Cyber Law.
2. Mr. Rajiv Kumar Sinha, Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of India, who dedicates his time to research and provides free guidance to Advocate-on-Record exam aspirants.
The Chief Guest of the program is Justice A.K. Sikri, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India, known as the Father of the Doctrine of Proportionality. The Chairman of the event is Mr. Praveen H. Parekh, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, and former four-time President of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
Nani Palkhivala, regarded as the Father of the Doctrine of Basic Structure of the Constitution, played a pivotal role in the landmark Kesavananda Bharati case, where this doctrine was established, protecting the democratic framework of India. He was a true defender of democracy and contributed to over 400 reported judgments during his illustrious career.
The Nani Palkhivala National Law Club (NPNLC) boasts a membership of over 1,600 members across India. The organization has conducted more than 50 free physical and online events, including webinars and legal guidance camps. Currently, 15 active NPNLC groups are working to support advocates, law students, law colleges, and law-abiding citizens across India.
