Second National Lok Adalat 2025 Organized Across Madhya Pradesh

Under the guidance of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, Chief Justice & Patron-in-Chief, Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, and Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Executive Chairman, Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, the Second National Lok Adalat of 2025 was successfully organized across Madhya Pradesh on 10th May 2025, under the directions of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi. The event was virtually inaugurated by Chief Justice from the High Court of Madhya Pradesh Bench at Indore during the State Level Virtual Inaugural Ceremony. The occasion was graced by Justice Vivek Rusia (Chairman, HCLSC, Indore), Justice Anand Pathak (Chairman, HCLSC, Gwalior), Justice Vivek Agarwal (Chairman, HCLSC, Jabalpur), Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla, and other companion Judges of the High Court. In his inaugural address, the Chief Justice remarked that the occasion renews our commitment to accessible, timely, and meaningful justice. He emphasized that Lok Adalats embody the principles of fairness, simplicity, and resolution through mutual understanding. As a low-cost, cooperative, and time-efficient method of dispute resolution, they not only reduce case pendency but also restore peace and closure. He acknowledged the contributions of judicial officers, legal services institutions, advocates, and court staff. Advocates, in particular, play a vital role by guiding clients towards fair settlements, thus reinforcing the relevance of justice in daily life. Justice Anand Pathak observed that Lok Adalat is an ideal platform for the poor, uneducated, and weaker sections to access justice. With advancements like mediation, conciliation, and permanent Lok Adalats, affordable and speedy justice has become more accessible. He emphasized that justice should be the ultimate goal and mediators play a crucial role in counselling and facilitating peaceful resolutions, where both parties feel victorious. Justice Vivek Agarwal noted that this Lok Adalat presents an opportunity to offer amicable resolutions to several litigants, thereby working towards the welfare of the litigants and strengthening the institution of justice itself. During the inaugural ceremony, Shri Dharminder Singh (Registrar General, High Court of Madhya Pradesh) along with officers of registry, Shri Pradeep Mittal (Member Secretary, M.P. State Legal Services Authority), Shri Krishnamurty Mishra, Director MP State Judicial Academy, Shri Arvind Shrivastava (Additional Secretary), Shri Aniruddha Jain (Deputy Secretary), office bearers of the Bar Association, and all Judicial Officers from the District Judiciary who joined virtually. The event was conducted by Smt. Archana Singh, Secretary, HCLSC Jabalpur, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Pradeep Mittal, Member Secretary, MPSLSA. In the instant National Lok Adalat a total of 87,579 cases were resolved out of 3,35,204 taken up cases. A total of 58,576 pre-litigation cases and 29,003 pending cases were resolved with a settlement amount of Rs. 412.99 Crores Shri Pradeep Mittal informed that a total of 1,453 benches were constituted, including 06 benches at the Principal Seat in Jabalpur and the Benches at Indore and Gwalior, along with 1,447 benches in District Courts across the State.
