“What After Us?”: Delhi HC Chief Justice Addresses Event On Future Of Adults With Autism & IDD

The Shaurya Foundation Trust organised an event at the Delhi High Court on May 15, 2026, centred around the question, “What after us?”, addressing concerns relating to the future of adults with autism and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Delhi High Court Chief Justice Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Justice V.K. Rao, Senior Advocate and former Attorney General for India Mukul Rohatgi, Dr. Mathew Varghese, Delhi High Court Bar Association President N. Hariharan, Senior Advocate and Chairman of Shaurya Foundation Trust Ravi Gupta, and DHCBA Secretary Vikram Singh Panwar, along with students of Shaurya Foundation Trust.
Students of the Shaurya Centre presented a medley of bhajans during the programme.
N. Hariharan delivered the welcome address, while Rubina Mohan, Director of Shaurya Foundation Trust, spoke about the Trust's work in functional training and inclusive employment for neurodiverse adults.
The Trust also honoured advocates associated with the initiative and presented mugs made by trainees of the SFT sublimation unit.
Dr. Mathew Varghese addressed the gathering on the issue, followed by Mukul Rohatgi. Arpita Yadav, Director of SFT Palwal, also spoke during the programme regarding her experience working with neurodiverse adults.
Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya delivered the Chief Guest Address during the event. The vote of thanks was delivered by Kunal Malhotra, Joint Secretary, DHCBA.
The programme concluded with an invitation to the SFT Café, operated in collaboration with Sagar Ratna on the Delhi High Court premises and staffed by students of the Shaurya Centre. During the event, the Chief Justice handed salary cheques to the students.
The Trust stated that for the past 15 years it has been working on skill programmes and employment opportunities for adults with autism and IDD through initiatives including the Delhi High Court Café and its in-house enterprises.
The Trust also spoke about “Shaurya Niketan”, a proposed residential community initiative aimed at creating a community-oriented setting for adults with autism and IDD with structured support and professional care.
