The Calcutta High Court on Friday agreed to hear a plea seeking quashing of criminal cases against stone trader and Trinamool Congress associate Tulu Mondal, whose residence was reportedly searched by the West Bengal Police, resulting in the recovery of bundles of cash and gold.

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi mentioned the matter before the Court and requested that it be listed on Thursday, stating that he wished to appear physically and argue the matter himself.

“Milord, I'm praying for this matter to be listed on Thursday. I would like to come physically and argue this matter,” Rohatgi submitted.

The Court initially observed that the matter would, in all likelihood, reach before Thursday.

Rohatgi, however, sought the Court's indulgence for a specific listing on Thursday, citing difficulty in appearing earlier.

“I have some difficulty, Milord. I am asking for indulgence to list it on Thursday so I can come and argue in person,” he said.

The Court thereafter agreed to the request and directed that the matter be listed on Thursday.

Mondal's plea seeks quashing of the criminal cases pending against him. The proceedings come against the backdrop of the police search at his residence, during which bundles of cash and gold were reportedly recovered.
