An Indian Army aspirant who reportedly cleared the first phase of the recruitment process to be enrolled into the Indian Armed Forces, has approached the Calcutta High Court alleging that he is unable to proceed to the next stage of selection after the West Bengal authorities failed to issue him a domicile certificate, citing the deletion of his name from the electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

The plea is scheduled to be heard by Justice Krishna Rao.

According to the petitioner, he successfully cleared the first phase of the Indian Army recruitment process and was required to appear for the second phase of the selection process in Odisha.

However, the petitioner claims that he has been unable to proceed with the recruitment process as he has not been issued the requisite domicile certificate by the authorities.

The petitioner had applied for issuance of the domicile certificate, but the same was allegedly not issued on the ground that his name had been deleted from the electoral rolls in the course of the ongoing SIR exercise.

The petitioner has approached the High Court seeking appropriate directions to the authorities for issuance of the domicile certificate, so that he can participate in the subsequent stage of the Army recruitment process.

The matter is expected to be heard this week.
