    The Union Government has notified the appointment of two judicial officers as additional judges of the Delhi High Court.

    The judicial officers are:

    - Girish Kathpalia

    - Manoj Jain

    The announcement has been made by Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on Twitter. He wrote, “In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the President of India, after consultation with Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint the following as Judges in the High Courts and also transfer High Court Judges.”

    Recently, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended names of three judicial officers for their appointment as judges of the Delhi High Court.

    The three judges of the Delhi Higher Judiciary were Girish Kathpalia, Dharmesh Sharma and Manoj Jain.

    The collegium had said that Kathpalia is the senior-most member of the Delhi Higher Judicial Service and the Intelligence Bureau has reported that he has a good personal and professional image and that nothing adverse has come to notice against his integrity. 

    “We have considered the opinion of consultee-Judges with regard to his suitability for elevation,” the statement reads.

    Regarding Jain, the statement mentioned that the Intelligence Bureau has reported that he has a good personal and professional image and that nothing adverse has come to notice against his integrity.
