The Delhi High Court today launched a “digital platform for sharing trial court record” and its “web accessibility complaint cause list” for visually impaired lawyers, litigants and public at large by using accessibility text to speech software.

The projects were inaugurated by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Rajiv Shakdher, Chairman of the Information Technology Committee, and other members including Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Justice Sanjeev Narula and Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav.

The event was attended by other High Court judges as well as the Registrar General, Registrar (Vigilance), Principal District & Sessions Judge, Family Court and Commercial Court judges, Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma, Delhi Government’s Standing Counsel (Civil & Criminal), Principal Secretary of Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs, President and Secretary of the Delhi High Court Bar Association, NIC officials and other dignitaries.

Ten new websites of all the Delhi District Courts have been launched on S3WaaS platform (Secure, Scalable, Sugamya Website as a Service). All the documents on the websites are kept in OCR format so that the visually impaired persons can access the same with ease. The data of previous websites has also been migrated to the new platform.

Through the newly launched Digital Platform for Sharing of Trial Court Record, the district courts can seamlessly share the TCR with the High Court through a SSL VPN based platform.

The initiative will also help in saving the expenditure made by the District Courts in procuring huge numbers of CDs.

The Web Accessibility Compliant Cause List has been constituted by the Accessibility Committee of the High Court under the Chairmanship of Justice Rajiv Shakdher, after taking feedback from the stakeholders and assistance of visually impaired lawyers Rahul Bajaj and Amar Jain.
