The Delhi High Court has closed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking the removal of the musical composition 'Shoorveer' from Mirzapur: The Movie, after the producer informed that the song has been removed from the film.

A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Nitin Wasudeo Sambre and Justice Sanjay Sharma accepted the submission that the song, attributed in the plea to the heroic conduct of Maharana Pratap and his followers, has not been played in the movie since September 17.

The Court was hearing a petition filed by one Prashant Kumar Singh, who sought directions to the authorities to remove the musical composition which was used as background music in the climax scene of the movie.

The counsel appearing for the producer informed the Court that the song has already been voluntarily deleted from the movie. A certificate confirming the deletion was also placed on record.

As Singh's counsel did not dispute the factual submission, the Court said:

“In this background, as prayed by the learned counsel for the petitioner, since the issue sought to be canvassed in the petition stands redressed, no further orders are required.”

The producer's counsel also submitted that an amount of Rs. 50,000 would be voluntarily donated to the Army Welfare Fund within one week, in view of the authorities' conduct.

The Court directed that an acknowledgement of the donation be placed on record.

“In case there is a failure to produce the acknowledgement as claimed above, within a period of 02 weeks from today, the matter shall be listed for re-consideration before the Court only on the limited aspect of cost to be paid by the respondent no.3,” the Court said.

“In case the acknowledgement is produced, the order directing disposal of the writ petition shall govern the proceedings,” it added.
