The Delhi High Court has directed the authorities to provide Jai Anshul Anil Ambani, son of industrialist Anil Ambani, specific details of the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against him, including the date of its issuance, and a copy of the formal order.

Justice Mini Pushkarna passed the direction while hearing an application filed by Jai Anshul seeking compliance of an earlier order passed on September 17 by a coordinate bench.

The Court was informed that the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) had communicated to Jai Anshul on October 05 that an LOC had been issued against him in view of an ongoing investigation and that it continued to remain in force.

However, his counsel submitted that the communication was vague and did not disclose specific details regarding the LOC.

Taking note of the communication, the Court directed the authorities to provide details regarding when the LOC was issued and furnish a copy of the formal order to Jai Anshul in accordance with law.

The Court also took note of Ambani's submission that the communication was received only from the SFIO and not from the Bureau of Immigration.

“Accordingly, respondents are further directed to apprise the Court as to whether any other LOC has been issued against the petitioner, which is in the knowledge of the Bureau of Immigration,” the Court said.

During the hearing, counsel for the authorities submitted that the earlier direction had required the petition to be treated as a representation and requisite intimation to be provided within a time-bound manner.

It was argued that the Court had not directed the authorities to furnish specific details of the LOC.

The respondents also submitted that if Jai Anshul was dissatisfied with the communication issued by the SFIO, he could pursue other remedies available to him.

The matter will be considered next on October 16.
