Seven judicial officers took oath as judges of the Delhi High Court on Monday, taking the total working strength to 50.

Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya administered the oath of office to Justice Nivedita Anil Sharma, Justice Nisha Sahay Saxena, Justice Sanjay Sharma, Justice Bharat Parashar, Justice Aditi Choudhary, Justice Dinesh Bhatt and Justice Arun Bhardwaj.

All the judges were earlier serving as judicial officers in the District Judiciary in the national capital.

The swearing-in ceremony was held in the High Court premises.

Justices Sharma and Saxena have been appointed as permanent Judges and took oath in English. The other five have been appointed as Additional Judges and took the oath in Hindi.

They have been appointed as additional Judges of the High Court.

On September 19, the Union Government had notified the seven new appointments after the Supreme Court collegium made a recommendation in favour of the new judges.

The sanctioned strength of the High Court is 60. With these new appointments, its current strength has risen to 50.
