'Will Consider': Supreme Court Registrar In Pleas For Reservations In Junior Court Assistant Post

The Supreme Court administration told the Delhi High Court that it will decide pleas concerning the recruitment for the post of Junior Cost Assistant in the Supreme Court in various reserved categories. The submission was made before Justice Prateek Jalan who was hearing four pleas filed by various aspirants seeking appointment to the post under various reserved categories, namely Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections. The advertisement for the recruitment was published by the Supreme Court on February 02. The petitioner aspirants raised various contentions with regard to the recruitment process and the applicability of reservation in accordance with law. ASG Chetan Sharma appearing for the Supreme Court Registrar, on instructions, told the Court that the authorities will consider the petitioners' representations and take an appropriate decision in accordance with law, having regard to all the facts and circumstances of the cases.The Court noted that the said submission was made without prejudice to the contentions with regard to maintainability of the petitions.In view of the submission, the counsel appearing for the aspirants did not press the writ petitions, leaving open the rights and remedies of the petitioners.The Court directed the petitioners to submit a comprehensive representations to the Supreme Court administration by May 30.“The writ petitions, alongwith the pending applications, are disposed of in terms of the aforesaid submission,” the Court said.
