The Delhi High Court recently ordered takedown of additional 39 short videos and five English-language videos on Sadhguru's Isha Foundation, in its defamation suit filed against Tamil media outlet Nakkheeran Publications.

Justice Subramonium Prasad clarified and modified its interim injunction order passed on March 19 in favour of Isha Foundation in the defamation suit against Google LLC which operates YouTube, Tamil weekly and its publisher/editor.

The Court said that in addition to the videos already covered by its interim order, the additional links must also be taken down.

The Court held that although the application was styled as one seeking clarification, it was in substance a prayer for modification.

However, it found the modification necessary to give full effect to its earlier order, observing that the additional videos formed part of the material already relied upon in the injunction proceedings.

The development came in a fresh application filed by Isha Foundation seeking clarification of the interim order.

For context, vide its order dated March 19, Justice Prasad had restrained the Tamil weekly as well as its editor from creating, publishing, uploading or disseminating defamatory content against the Foundation and directed take down of the impugned YouTube videos and articles identified in the injunction application.

In its fresh application, the Foundation argued that while the earlier order referred to the links mentioned in the injunction application, it inadvertently omitted 39 short videos and five English-language videos listed in Paragraph 10 of the plaint.

Opposing the plea, the Tamil weekly and its editor contended that the application was, in effect, a review plea seeking to enlarge the scope of the interim injunction by adding additional content.

The Court observed that although the fresh application sought a modification, the additional links were not alien to the earlier injunction application as Paragraph 25 of that application expressly incorporated the contents of the plaint.

It further noted that its March 19 order had already treated the material referred to in Paragraph 10 of the plaint as prima facie defamatory.

“This, in the opinion of this Court, is implication enough that the 39 short videos and 5 English language videos do not require a separate adjudication, on account of them being a part of I.A. No. 30090/2025,” the judge concluded.

Allowing the application, the Court modified Paragraph 59 of its interim order to the effect of directing the defendants to take down not only the videos and articles identified in the injunction application but also the addition 39 short videos and five English-language videos mentioned in Paragraph 10 of the plaint.

“Let this Order be read conjointly with the Order dated 19.03.2026 and whenever a certified copy of the Order dated 19.03.2026 is applied for, a copy of this Order be also supplied along with that Order,” the Court ordered.

In 2024, Isha Foundation filed a defamation suit against Nakkheeran Publications before the Delhi High Court, claiming that some of its content maligned the Foundation's reputation. The suit demanded Rs.3 crores as damages.

Subsequently, Nakkheeran Publications filed a transfer petition before the Supreme Court, seeking transfer of the defamation case from Delhi to Chennai.

Isha Foundation then filed an application in Nakkheeran's transfer petition seeking to restrain publication of any defamatory content by it.

In July 2025, the Supreme Court had asked the Foundation to agitate its plea before the High Court seeking injunction against the publication.
