Justice Atul Sreedharan Takes Oath As Jammu & Kashmir High Court Judge

Justice Atul Sreedharan was today sworn in as a Judge of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court. Chief Justice N. Kotiswar Singh administered the oath of office.Justice Sreedharan had sought a transfer from Madhya Pradesh High Court, where his daughter will soon enter practice. The Collegium had accepted his request and accordingly resolved to transfer him to J&K.The oath taking ceremony was physically attended at Srinagar by Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul, Justice Mohan Lal, Justice Rahul Bharti, Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi and Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal while Justice Tashi Rabstan, Justice Sindhu Sharma, Justice Sanjay Dhar, Justice Puneet Gupta, Justice Javed Iqbal Wani, Justice Mohammad Akram Chowdhary and Justice Rajesh Sekhri participated online from the Jammu wing.CJ Kotiswar Singh expressed his confidence in Justice Sreedharan’s capabilities and emphasized the importance of an independent judiciary in safeguarding the rights and interests of the people. He urged the newly sworn-in judge to discharge his duties with utmost dedication, integrity, and impartiality.Justice Sreedharan, while addressing the gathering, expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by the judiciary and vowed to uphold the principles of justice throughout his tenure. He acknowledged the significance of the responsibility bestowed upon him and assured the public that he would strive to dispense justice impartially and expeditiously.With the transfer of Justice Sreedharan, the strength of Judges at the Jammu & Kashmir High Court has risen to 16 Judges including the Chief Justice, against the sanctioned strength of 17.
