Six new judges were sworn in at Karnataka High Court today.

Senior Counsel Venkaraddi Devaraddi Kamaraddi, Chairman of the Karnataka State Bar Council, extended a warm welcome to the six advocates who were sworn in as Additional Judges.

Karnataka State Bar Council (KSBC) Chairman assured them of 'wholehearted cooperation' from the legal fraternity.

The President of India had appointed the six advocates as Additional Judges for a period of two years, with the oath-taking ceremony held on Sunday at 3:30 PM at Lok Bhavan. The appointments were made in exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law & Justice, Department of Justice on August 7, 2026.

Today, Chairman Kamaraddi emphasized the traditional cooperation between the bar and bench in Karnataka which already exists, stating:

“…. Assistance and cooperation must be ensured to achieve the best results. We, the members of the legal fraternity, assure you wholehearted cooperation in discharging your duties with good understanding and cooperation. Unitedly we can serve the cause of justice and litigant public in an effective manner…”

The following advocates were appointed as Additional Judges of the Karnataka High Court for a period of two years, effective from the date they assume charge:

2 Justice Hema Kulkarni

3 Justice Subramanya Rangarao

4 Justice Thadagavadi Prakash Vivekananda

5 Justice Bakkeswara Pramod

6 Justice Hombe Gowda Shanthi Bhushan
