Kerala High Court Quashes Abduction Case Against Actress Lakshmi Menon After Recording Settlement Between Parties

The Kerala High Court on Friday (November 7) quashed the abduction case initiated against actress Lakshmi Menon in view of the settlement entered into between the parties.Justice C.S. Dias today allowed the Crl.M.C. filed by all the four accused persons, including the actress, and quashed the FIR registered and all further proceedings in Crime No. 346 of 2025 of the Ernakulam Town North Police Station as against the petitioners.The complainant had alleged that an altercation occurred at Velocity Pub, Kochi in the presence of the actress along with other accused persons. Thereafter, the accused followed the complainant and his friend in their car and forced the complainant to enter the car of the accused by verbally abusing him. It was further alleged that he was assaulted in the car of the accused and was given death threats.The following day, an FIR was registered against the actress in Ernakulam Town North Police Station, under Section 140(2)[Kidnapping or Abducting in order to murder], 126 [Wrongful Restraint], 296 [Obscene Acts and Songs], 127(2) [Wrongful Confinement], 115(2) [Voluntarily Causing Hurt] and 351 [Criminal Intimidation] of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.During the last posting, the public prosecutor had pointed out to the Court that there were other injured in the case (other than the de facto complainant) and the matter was adjourned granting time to the prosecutor to get instructions on the same.Earlier, the High Court had granted anticipatory bail to the actress and other accused persons in the crime after noting that the matter had been settled between the parties.
