The Kerala High Court granted bail to two teachers, Kavya K. and Keerthana K.C., who were arrested in the Vadakara MDMA case. [2026 LiveLaw (Ker) 523]

The case relates to the drug trafficking case, involving school teachers and special educators as financial intermediaries.

Dr. Justice Kauser Edappagath today granted bail to third accused Kavya, who was arrested on July 25. The judge had, earlier this month, granted bail to second accused Keerthana, who was arrested on July 11.

The prosecution allegation is that the accused persons conspired together to transport and sell narcotic drugs. It is further alleged that pursuant to the conspiracy, the 1st accused was found in possession of 2.108 grams of MDMA in front of Rolex Oil Industries, Ice Plant road, Vatakara at 2 a.m. on 28.06.2026. The specific allegation against Kavya and Keerthana was that the financial transactions in respect of the offence were done through their bank accounts.

They are accused of the offences under Section 22(b) read with Section 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

"The investigation is almost over. The recovery has been effected. The applicant has no criminal antecedents. For these reasons, I do not find any reason to hold that the continued detention of the applicant is required for any purpose. Hence, the applicant is entitled to be released on bail," the Court observed.

Thus, the Court allowed both the pleas.
