Justice V Kameswar Rao was sworn-in as Chief Justice of Patna High Court on Sunday (September 13).

The oath of office was administered by Bihar Governor Lt. Gen. Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd).

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Rao's appointment as Chief Justice of Patna High Court last month.

On September 5 the Central Government notified Justice Rao's appointment.

In 2024 the Central Government had notified the transfer of Justice Rao to the Karnataka High Court. Thereafter in 2025, Justice Rao was repatriated to the Delhi High Court.

Justice Rao was designated as Senior Advocate by the Delhi High Court in January, 2010. He was elevated as Additional Judge of High Court of Delhi on 17th April, 2013 and as Permanent Judge on 18th March, 2015.
